Save 10% on Amazon Gift Cards, Plus Earn 5x

Everyone could use an Amazon gift card!

Everyone could use an Amazon gift card!

Via Slickdeals (bookmark this site if you haven’t already), OfficeMax will have a sale on Amazon Kindle gift cards next week. You will save $5 on two $25 Amazon Kindle gift cards, so you pay $45 for $50 worth of gift cards. While the gift cards say “Amazon Kindle” on them, you can actually apply them to your Amazon account and use the money to purchase anything that’s sold on Amazon. Stock up for that big TV purchase!

Since OfficeMax is an office supply store, people who own one of the Chase Ink business credit cards will earn 5x points for the purchase. That means you’ll earn 5 x $45 = 225 Ultimate Rewards points. If you value UR points at 2 cents apiece, that will equal another $4.50 savings, meaning you effectively will get $50 in Amazon gift cards for $40.50. By my count, that’s an effective sale of 19% off. Note that you still pay the 10% off price but the extra savings will be realized when you redeem those points. If you need/want a Chase Ink card, you can apply through my affiliate link on Credit Karma or directly through Chase.

There is a limit of one offer per person, so you can’t buy a ton of them at once unless you find a great cashier. Bring the family and friends to help, or if it’s convenient just go back every day of the week. I don’t doubt that many points addicts will go in advance to hide these gift cards (a la Vanilla Reloads) to ensure they get them all!

Note there was a similar deal last year that Frequent Miler wrote about, but I don’t recall there being a limit back then. I’ll also point out that using OfficeMax gift cards should work to buy other gift cards (I’ve done this in the past myself with no trouble), but you might need to find a willing cashier.

Now get out there and earn those points AND save some money!
